Product information
The langoustine is a refined, ten-legged crustacean with tender and juicy flesh and a subtle, slightly sweet taste. It is recognizable by its slender body, two long claws, and striking black eyes. Due to the shape of these eyes, the langoustine is also known as the kidney-eyed crustacean.
The light pink meat is found primarily in the muscular abdomen and is known for its fine texture and delicate flavor. It is not without reason that the langoustine is also called 'the pink gold of the sea'.

Origin
Our langoustines come from Norway. In the cold Norwegian waters, they live on muddy and sandy seabeds. Here, langoustines dig extensive burrows and tunnels, which can have multiple exits. During the day, they mainly stay in their hiding places. Around sunset, they emerge and go in search of food, including small crustaceans and mollusks.
The langoustines are brought from Norway to De Meulemeester in Yerseke, where great attention is paid to preserving quality and condition.
Other information
A langoustine can grow to about 18 to 20 centimeters in length and live an average of 8 to 9 years. Thanks to its muscular abdomen and fan-shaped tail, it can move quickly through the water.
